About Me
I have been developing my skills as a sculptor since 2011 when I began taking courses at The Art Students League of New York. I quickly found my niche in stone and wood-carving. My principal instructor/mentor was sculptor and mixed media artist Leonid Lerman. To enhance my technical knowledge and woodworking skills I have also taken classes and am now a member of Makeville Studio, Brooklyn, NY. But while wood remains my primary medium, I continue to explore a range of other materials such as metals and plastics.
Highlights of the last decade include, most recently, an invitation to exhibit several works in a small group show at Lichtundfire Gallery in NYC, (Nov-Dec 2026). During these years I was also invited to join the New York Society of Women Artists and the National Association of Women Artists, and have participated in many of their NYC exhibitions. In addition, juried shows sponsored by the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and Long Island City Artists have also featured my work. As a winner of the 2022 Works-In-Public competition at the Art Students League, I created a model that I helped fabricate into an 11-foot painted steel and plexiglass work entitled LIFE DANCE. This sculpture was installed in Riverside Park South in July 2023, where it resided until September 2024, when it was transported to its permanent location in the Florida Keys. This current chapter in my creative life is built upon a foundation of arts education* along with decades of work experience in television, print, and the classroom. My sculptures are the culmination of a lifetime’s spiritual journey and the avenues of thought and feeling that have propelled me along the way. *College degrees: B.S., Art, 1977, Skidmore College, University Without Walls, Saratoga Springs, NY M.A., Aesthetics Education, 1981, University of Northern Colorado, School of Educational Change & Development, Greeley, CO In addition, the holistic educational experience that greatly influenced my life’s trajectory was studying and becoming a teacher of the Science of Creative Intelligence and Transcendental Meditation.
